Current Commercially Available Solutions

Many solutions exist in the area of medication management. Solutions can be as simple as a plastic pill organizer with compartments labeled for each day of the week. By grouping medications into compartments and labeling them according to time and day, one can avoid the hassle of remembering to grab each pill, every time they need to take medication.

A more extravagant version of the pill organizer called the Epill organizer is essentially the same thing. The device requires that a caretaker organize medications into small plastic containers. The product does offer internet based monitoring, but with only limited capabilities1. At a price of nearly $900, the device does little to improve upon this system of dosage preparation by grouping.

Figure 2: here you see the epill system. Hi-tech method w/ Little improvement over low-tech solutions.

A new class devices that accepts complete prescription refills and organizes them itself, should be developed in a similar price range to the Epill device. Something like this
